We are looking at distributional point of copepods of the genus Salmincola

The genus Salmincola has been historicallyknown as nortolious parasites in fisheries, but little information is available from conditions in the  wild as to when, where and how they live in streams.

We would be pleased to acquire the following information when you find the parasites on gills and mouth cavities of fish during recreational fishing:

・Place where you found the parasites (exact latitude or longitude coordinates would be appreciated)

・Host species and their photos

・Attachment sites on host fish (mouth cavity / gills)

・Infection rate (the proportion of infected fish to all the fish you captured)

If possible, we would be really pleased to get the host and parasite specimens in two ways:

・Frozen infected fish samples

・Parasite specimens only: gently picking parasites by forceps from hosts and stored in 70% ethanol. We can send you vials where you can keep them.
